With this photography display, the Musée de l'Homme immerses the visitor right into the heart of a social phenomenon: the welcoming and integration of immigrants. In her exhibition Hic & Nunc, photographer Clarisse Rebotier presents portraits of peaceful, smiling people on the Esplanade des Droits de l'Homme, with the Eiffel Tower in the background as a symbol of being anchored in time and in a place. The Eiffel Tower belongs to everyone. These are people who fled from wars and are now refugees in France. "They' re cheerful. They're fighters! I wanted to show that refugees are first and foremost citizens, who are incredibly full of emotions and life. “ says Clarisse Rebotier. For this series, the photographer wanted to create a participatory project: the subjects became authors; they shot their own portraits in the dark room. Welcoming diversity and integrating refugees isare currently a challenge for Europe and France, one that requires humanist and universalist principles that are dear to the Musée de l'Homme. These photographs are a call for solidarity, in which prejudices about immigrants are gradually being taken apart.
